Compendium of Curiosities Challenge Week 6

For those following along, please turn to page 66 in your Compendium of Curiosities Book to find T!m's Multi-medium collage technique. I LOVED this challenge but as usual, I struggled with my idea/theme a bit. I recently got my July kit from Club Scrap called Destinations and the stencil has the cutest little arrow for pointing out where you are on a map, so I created a trace outline of it in my QK Silhouette software and played with the size a bit…cut several layers of paper and adhered them together to make my own “chipboard” version. Same thing for the heart which I inked w/barn door, then ran through T!m’s Swirls texture fade and inked again w/vintage photo. The license plate was created in photoshop and then just printed on cardstock (from Club Scrap Sonoma kit). For the background paper, I knew I wanted to use something from T!m's lost & found stack, but the color on the one I chose was too similar to my embellishment colors, so I photocopied it in black and white on my printer and then just lightly inked that with Old Paper & Vintage photo distress ink. The base of the card is a from the Club Scrap Freedom collection (inked with vintage photo and black soot) and the matte is a beautiful sparkly red from Club Scrap’s December kit called Ornamental.
I don't know about you, but i'm tired just reading all that...i always seem to find a way to make simple things more difficult. I guess i like to "suffer for my art"!

  3. Chrissie, this is fabulous! I love how you went about the process of creating such a lovely card, and it really turned out cool!

It sounds like you and I have a very similar way of going about our art. Things always take me about twelve times longer than I think they should!
