Yet another Christmas Card - yes, i'm tired of these now too!

I think i'm done making Christmas cards for a little while. I can only take so much Christmas cheer when it's not the actual time of the year. Also, I've grown weary of the Comics kit!!

The plaid background was made using a technique T!m showed here . It is great fun, and quite addicting.

All paper is from Club Scrap's Comic's kit (with the exception of the glossy cardstock used for the plaid).

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge Week 17

This weeks Compendium of Curiosities Challenge (graciously hosted by the lovely Linda at StudioL3) is Fragment Charms. I'm embarrassed to even submit this sorry little piece, but it's all i had time for since I just returned from a wonderful 10 day vacation!!

After the Club Scrap Retreat, my sister and I spent several days exploring Door County in Wisconsin. If you've never been, I highly recommend it. Just a wonderfully quaint and beautiful area with oh so many picture taking opportunities. We saw (& photographed) a few of the peninsula's lighthouses and I plan to make a mini scrapbook of them (and some others I've visited). This will be one of a few charms which will adorn the spine. It's a photo of the Cana Island Lighthouse which is really the only "traditional" lighthouse in Door County. The rest were different than any others I've seen. Compendium of Curiosities Challenge Week 12

Hard to believe, but this challenge puts all of us playing along at Linda's Studio L3 site a mere 1/3rd of the way thru all the fab techniques T!m shares in his Compendium of Curiosities book...this one is on page 44 and it's called Chipped Enamel.

I took my inspiration not only from T!m, but also from another creative hero of mine; Jennifer McGuire. As you can see from her post here, my card is a shameless re-creation of her work (with substitutions).

I followed some/most of her instructions, except that i used sepia accents (instead of glossy accents) on my leaf and I didn't use mine as a mask, just made it a separate element altogether. I really couldn't tell you where i found that acorn charm, but I've had it for a very very very long time. It began life as a bright & shiny brass with a hole in the top (presumably to hang it from something), so I gave it the chipped enamel treatment to grunge it up a bit. My 2 bracket shapes were cut with my QK Silhouette and my card base and panel are both from Club Scrap (Matrix & Ornamental kits respectively).
